Not Me! Monday - #23

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog to see what she has not been up to herself.

Yesterday I did not take pictures of my 18 month old son Warren tormenting my almost three year old son Lucian by sitting on him. I don't find all this absolutely hilarious. If you were to look at the pictures below the lump in the blanket isn't my little boy being smooshed by his younger brother who was obviously enjoying his brother's increased immobility caused by the blanket. Nope. So I didn't capture it on film. Never!
I didn't have both my boys sick for the past couple of days with high fevers and decreased appetite. Of course I didn't make the mistake of letting them play when their fevers dropped and they started feeling a little better. Even if I knew they were totally going stir crazy and weren't interested in watching anything on t.v. (of course I didn't let them do that either!) I wouldn't let them overdo it. This didn't cause their fevers to spike after naps and I wasn't feeling a little guilty for not discouraging their play.

We also didn't make a run to Dairy Queen to buy a treat but decide to do things a little different (a.k.a. cheaper) and order two dilly bars and two buster bars. After paying more than $7 for these items I didn't wonder why we even bothered in the first place. I didn't regret not getting that blasted strawberry waffle bowl sundae I love so much. What happened to dilly bars being a $1?

Last night, completely frustrated with Lucian because he wouldn't stay in bed, I didn't trick him into believing I had a key to his bedroom door and threaten to lock him in there. I wouldn't do that with a key to a different door to our house since I don't even have a key to his door anyway. And it didn't totally work. (Brilliantly, I might add...)

Not Me! Monday - #22

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog to see what she has not been up to herself.

While on vacation this past week I did not find myself doing plenty of crazy things. Like trying to walk outside in wet grass, holding on to my 18 month old as he was squirming to get down and still trying to hold my pants up with my other hand without dropping him. I didn't want the bottom of my pants to get wet and muddy of course but still. I wouldn't create this very ridiculous display so that my mom could burst out laughing at my silliness and thereby make it even harder for me to continue walking. I certainly wouldn't do this for any of the other resort guests to see either.

In trying to tame our crazy son we also wouldn't consider a harness for him for the first time on vacation And then we wouldn't actually be playing up to the idea that it is a leash and say things like, "here boy" when he is wearing it just because it really does feel like you are walking a little puppy dog. Nope. We didn't do that.
While hanging out with his older cousins on vacation, our almost three year old Lucian did not start singing along to a song that they all seem to have stuck in their heads. That song wasn't, "Cha Cha Cha Chia." (Yes, as in the Chia Pet theme song.) But I didn't find it so hilarious that Lucian's version was a little different when I heard him going, "Ta Ta Ta Tortilla!"

While eating out on our vacation at a small local diner (where the food and service was atrocious by the way) I didn't take our youngest son into the unopened attached gift shop to kill some time. I then didn't proceed to flip a plug in switch in order view a lamp and when I proceed to turn the strip's power off, break the switch. I didn't immediately walk out of the gift shop. (In my defense I did nothing out of the ordinary so it was already faulty. It wasn't the lamp itself, I swear.)

While at Grandma and Grandpa's we didn't suddenly realize that little Warren was missing and run into the bathroom expecting him to be playing in the toilet again. Nope, my dad definitely wouldn't leave the bathroom door open. We didn't discover him wet and eating dog food instead. No sir..

And lastly, while sitting with my son Lucian before bed last night, he didn't pull the top of my shirt slightly down on one side over my shoulder, explaining, "Don't you want it like this, Mommy?", as he struggled to pull it down. I didn't then say, "um, ok" to have him look totally satisfied and smile at me before saying, "There mommy. Now you look like a princess." This didn't totally melt me and I didn't smile and agree with him. I didn't then laugh my butt off when a few minutes later he was also trying to make daddy into a princess too. :)

Not Me! Monday - #21

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog to see what she has not been up to herself.

I did not totally forget about Not My Child! week and instead write a traditional Not Me! Monday post. I am not totally bummed now that I forgot to participate this this week's special theme. I am not hoping MckMama will bring it back so I can try to NOT forget again.

If you saw me and my family at Olive Garden for lunch on Saturday you would not have seen us with horrible manners. I always set a good example for my kids so I did not find myself feeding Lucian (my almost three year old)with my fingers at times. This was not because he would take too big of bites and have spaghetti hanging out of his mouth and down his chin. I would of course cut his spaghetti up much better than that so it wouldn't have even been a possibility.

I did not break the unwritten restaurant rule and pick up some of my son's noodles off the floor just because I felt bad. And actually even as I write this I am not thinking of a other Olive Garden Not Me's. Like the fact we ate there for my husband's birthday and got a chance to use that gift card that we did not get for Easter. And not even this past Easter, but the YEAR BEFORE. Not because we don't love Olive Garden but because we rarely go out to eat somewhere where it isn't a buffet (for less stress & no wait) or doesn't serve pancakes (our picky son's favorite food).

I also did not rather enjoy our waiter whom I couldn't tell if he was just really nice, trying to get a good tip or even flirting with me. I of course am not liking the idea of the latter. No, certainly not. Even if he is kind of cute and too young for me. Oh and yeah, I'm totally off the market and not even looking because I'm happily married. And I was eating there with two kids and a husband. So naturally I wouldn't be happy if he was actually flirting with me. I couldn't enjoy that even slightly.

We do not allow our 17 month old to climb on our wooden swing set. Just because he wants to of course we don't let him. And I, as his responsible mother, don't allow him to either. I also don't allow my husband to discover other uses for overalls as not shown below. The top of the overalls don't make good handles and neither do the belt loops for going down the slide head first. And we definitely don't allow him to go down head first. Nope.
While at Target I did not reach into my bag to pay and find my wallet was a little wet. With milk. How did milk get in there you ask? It was not because my husband complained that our youngest son's sippy was leaking on his hands. I was not stupid enough to take it and then PROCEED TO STICK IT IN MY PURSE. (Seriously, I don't know where I come up with these clever ideas.) Not me!

Not Me! Monday - #20

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog see what she has not been up to herself.

I have not become so enamored with taking fun photos with my kids that I did not ruin a fun moment this weekend by stopping to take a few pictures. My son Lucian did not become upset when I stopped pulling him in the wagon in order to "capture" the moment, thereby ruining it.

I wouldn't do this. The pictures above depict only the happiest of moments!

We also did not let Warren eat a leftover apple yesterday morning that Lucian left laying on the table after he was finished with it. Nope. We didn't do that so ignore the picture below.
Last week we didn't have sidewalk sales by my work and I didn't partake in horrible things for me like mini donuts. I only eat healthy food so of course I would not give in to temptation! (What do they put in those darn mini donuts to make them so addicting?)

I didn't start smiling and chuckling at my son Lucian when he kept getting out of his bed when he was supposed to be sleeping. I maybe couldn't help it since he was so adorable and sweet. But of course I always keep a stern face and mean business when I am attempting to get him to do what he is told. I don't struggle with this often so this never happens. I didn't do this. Nope, not me!

Not Me! Monday - #19

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog see what she has not been up to herself.

This past week I did not find myself capturing my darling son Warren on camera when he was at his worst. Of course a good mommy would never share his tantrums with the world. I therefore did not take these photos below showing him crying for syrup at breakfast or

having an all out fit after breakfast when I refused to let him have the gigantic Mr. Potato Head with a million little parts in it to string out all over the bedroom floor and then get bored after a couple of minutes of play which happened the day before.
He didn't go through his "I'm so devastated and I can't believe how mean you are mommy to deny me what I want!" routine.
Which includes throwing himself on his brother's bed and showing his mommy he means business and is VERY angry by pulling off his sockand then throwing it to the ground.
Ha, Mommy! Do you see just how angry I am now? Why can't you give me what I want when I want it?

And of course being the great and understanding mommy that I am, I didn't think it would be cool to capture these moments on camera. Just to share with all of you and to get a little chuckle for myself later. (It is easier to laugh at tantrums than get all stressed and maybe give in, is it not?)

Later I did not find myself letting him PLAY with the DVD cases. This door to our entertainment center is childproof so as to NOT allow this type of play. But given our 16 month old is sometimes difficult to keep entertained with a single thing more than a few minutes, I may have thought it worth it to supervise this activity so I could get some things done in our living room anyway. This did not entertain him for quite a long time and afterwards I did not think that DVD cases are some of the best "non toys" ever. Since we normally don't let him play with these I would not send mixed signals to the poor boy by allowing this. Not me!

For my last thoughts on Warren this week, I did not find it hilarious when Joe and I went to pick him up from daycare and found him climbing up onto a toddler's outdoor slide/playhut combo (whatever you call those blasted things) and see him do a little face plant at the top. This was only funny because he a) wasn't hurt and b) got a mouthful of sand and was laughing himself. As I went inside to clean him up I didn't kind of chuckle when I found a small piece of sand stuck in his tooth. This was NOT funny and if it were it was only because he thought it was funny too! I did not secretly wish I had a camera on my cell phone (I know I'm in the dark ages) so I could include it in this post!

And because I should probably end this post so you could finish reading it THIS WEEK, I will end on something funny that Lucian did not do. When playing with his alphabet puzzle (which he knows all letters by sight and has for a while) I did not pick up a letter and ask Lucian, "What letter is this?" He did not decide to be disagreeable for the fun of it and say, "It isn't a T mommy, (pause) it is an M!". To which I could only smile since I never mentioned what letter it was that I was holding up. And yes, it was a T.

Not Me! Monday - #18

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog see what she has not been up to herself.

This weekend I did not wear a stained white shirt, yes stained in THREE places, for almost two days straight. Seriously, this is gross. And just because I didn’t go anywhere or do anything but play with the kids, do laundry and clean the house, I would still be looking my best at all times. Just in case someone dropped by. This saddened state might have kept me from going anywhere in the first place because it just felt like too much work to get ready.

I didn’t find these adorable photos I took last week of Warren playing with Daddy’s shoes and decide to share them with you even though I see evidence of me not being perfect in them. (Warren LOVES playing with shoes!) You may notice large crumbs and pieces of food, my husband’s pants with belt still attached hanging in the background (yes, this IS our dining room), our very stained rug and general clutter. If I did see this in pictures I of course wouldn’t be sharing them with the world because I simply must maintain my perfect reputation as a fabulously organized mom with an always clean and clutter free house. (Ha!)

I did not get lazy last night and realize that my camera batteries were dead. Even though I took some great photos this past weekend I was not too tuckered out to bother getting off my butt to get new batteries and recharge the old ones. So I am not holding off some of my pictures for Not Me! Monday until next week. I wouldn’t do this of course. Not me!

And because I find it so much fun to share the silly things my almost three year old says, I can’t resist this story. This morning I did not tell my son he is adorable only to have him reply, “Where? Where is my door bell mommy?” I just had to kiss him right there and chuckle at his misunderstanding.

Not Me! Monday - #17

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog see what she has not been up to herself.

On Father's Day I didn't think it was funny when our youngest started bouncing on daddy's back. I didn't find it so entertaining that I had to take some pictures of it. I of course would stop him since my hubby just ran a full marathon the day before and it was Father's Day after all.

I didn't think it was even funnier when he sat on his head! Of course not! And you certainly aren't seeing our son without any bottoms on. We don't let him ever roam the house in only a shirt. Never would I allow that!
While waiting with the kids during the marathon on Saturday, I didn't stuff my oldest full of strawberries just to keep him happy so that isn't strawberry juice on his face in the picture below. I didn't find myself gutting the strawberries I had just purchased for my husband on the course . I didn't remove the stems with my fingers and end up wiping my hands on my dark capri pants because I was too nervous to think of using the wipes I had in the diaper bag. I would never be so distracted!
And speaking of the marathon, I didn't in my "I'm so nervous for my husband because of the horrible heat and paranoid that somehow I am not going to make it in time to see him on the course" state that I would be distracted while driving and forget to take the correct turn. I didn't go a few miles past only to realize the mistake. But thankfully if I did do this I was smart enough to turn back instead of taking a chance and going in the general direction and guessing where we might end up. This may have been one of those times I wish we had a GPS.

For the marathon I didn't bring a bottle of Gatorade, water and energy chews at the request of my husband only to have him not want any of it. He may have been in a bad way at the 21 mile marker. Why did it have to be 83 degrees and humid? I WAS SO PROUD and happy that he finished even if it wasn't under four hours as he originally wanted.

Lastly, I didn't totally melt when my 2 1/2 year old son Lucian was playing his usual, I'm going to steal your nose (or ear, or eye, or hair, etc) game to have him instead grab something from my chest. When I asked him what he stole he didn't say in his sweet little voice, "I stole your heart mama!" Yes, yes you did. Sigh...

Not Me! Monday - #16

I love Not Me! Monday created by
My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog see what she has not been up to herself.

This past week I did not give my husband Joe a hard time for misplacing our cell phone AGAIN and having to search around all over for it. Even after trying to call it we couldn't seem to hear it. I may have scolded Joe and told him he needed to keep better track of our stuff since we both agreed he would have been the last to use it. (He is notorious for last minute searches for his wallet, phone, pager, keys, etc.) I did not give up only to find it in my bathrobe about an hour later. (Oops, I did make that phone call to my mom the night before. How could I forget?). I certainly couldn't have been the one responsible for this and didn't keep it a secret where I had found it from my hubby. I'd never do this, not me!

Since we are on the topic of misplacing items, Joe did not have us all waiting (including my in-laws and nephew) to go on a trip to the zoo for an extra 10 minutes while we frantically searched the house for his wallet. He didn't suddenly realize it was already in car, packed in a bag of goodies. He wouldn't do this after he was the one to pack it less than an hour earlier. Not my hubby!

On Saturday I did not only eat a very small amount of dinner because I wasn't hungry and then share a big Dairy Queen dessert with my son only an hour later. I would never let my kids do this so of course I always set a good example and I certainly wouldn't let DQ fill my tummy!

I did not over the weekend drop something in the toilet and fish it out. I never do these things, I am always careful. (I'll spare you the details of what exactly.)

Last week Lucian did not crack me up at Grandma's house after I asked him if he was poopy and needed his diaper changed. He did not enthusiastically reply, "I'm not poopy, I just have GAS!" (which was totally true!)

I promise to have plenty more fun Not Me details next week since I've got lots of things I'm not going to admit to but just don't have time to this week! :)

Not Me! Monday - #15

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog see what she has not been up to herself.

While pulling all my items from my cart onto the conveyor at Target, I didn't notice that my 15 month old Warren was holding a package of hot dog buns he had snatched from a nearby endcap and admiring their softness. And by admiring them I don't mean that he was slightly squishing them. I didn't quickly put them back on the shelf only to notice another package on his lap with a finger poke. I was not the totally naughty mommy who put them back and didn't pay for them. That couldn't be. But perhaps if I did do this I might be feeling a little guilty for not buying them. I am not rationalizing it by the fact only one bun was damaged in each package. Not me!

I did not go totally spastic at my husband yesterday morning because of his "helping" with laundry. I have done laundry for our household for as long as we've been married (almost 7 years) and I didn't learn that I don't give it up easily. Since my hubby is so unpracticed in the art of laundry, I didn't loose it when I saw he started to do MY laundry and not just his own or easy loads like towels. Of course he wouldn't think to use liquid fabric softener since so many of my clothes are dark delicates that can't be dried. He also didn't pack the washer so full that everything came out horribly wrinkled. I also didn't have to remind him of the importance of cleaning the lint trap after each load which he forgot about completely. Never mind I found colors mixed in with the whites. (only a couple and they didn't bleed.) And this doesn't irk me so much that I'm dedicated many sentences in my post to it. Apparently I hate laundry but I don't trust him with my or our kid's clothes. Yeah. This couldn't be me talking. Not Me!

I am not now to the point where anything that I do that I normally would be embarrassed to tell anyone I immediately think of Not Me! Monday and am thankful for some material for my post. I couldn't really be happy about doing silly things can, I? This would only encourage me, wouldn't it? Good thing I don't. Not Me!

Lastly, I was not scolded by my sister this weekend for this Not Me! Monday post where I talk about my total disbelief when I caught her doing something embarrassing. Apparently in my attempt to not call her out without her permission, I made it worse by being vague. I guess one's imagination can get off track. My sister may have told me to go ahead and rat her out since that would be preferable to guesses. Right now I'm thinking others probably don't even remember or care but I'm going to tell you right now it isn't that bad. Nothing freakish or sick, just surprising. Maybe it was overkill when I said "total disbelief". And yes, I'm going to leave you hanging again. Because while my sis may think she wants you to know more than simply wonder what I was talking about, I know better. :)

Not Me! Monday - #14

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog see what she has not been up to herself.

Earlier this past week I was not distracted when I turned on the oven to preheat and put a pot of water to boil on the back burner. I did not place a cookie sheet with popcorn chicken waiting to go into the oven on the front burner. I did not go into the dining room and read a couple of emails on the laptop and suddenly hear the smoke alarm going off. Of course I did not look at the stove (I have a perfect view of the dining room) only to see smoke coming off from the popcorn chicken and see that the FRONT burner was turned on high instead of the back. So instead of boiling my water I was cooking my cookie sheet of chicken. I would never let this happen so of course it couldn't have. I also wouldn't have quickly removed all evidence so when my hubby came in to shut off the loud alarm, he just assumed some little piece of food was left on the burner. I would of course not let him think that if it weren't true and if it were, I certainly wouldn't blog about it knowing I might be found out. I may have stained a really great cookie sheet.

My little guy Warren did not get into yet another accident in the bathtub. He didn't slip and knock his little head on the knob of the bathtub that opens and closes the drain. (Anyone know what that is called?) He did not freak me out with this goose egg that formed almost immediately. Thankfully Google calmed me since it is apparently common. His noggin may have looked considerably better this morning after icing it last night and giving it a chance to go down.

My husband did not finally give in and agree to buy a minivan. The picture above is not our newer (2006) minivan sitting in our driveway. This couldn't be since not even a month ago I couldn't convince my husband to get anything other than a Subaru Forrester, despite my insistance we needed more room for passengers and to haul stuff since we don't have a truck. He didn't suddenly agree and decide we needed one, NOW. So this must simply be a mirage!

Check out my last week's Not Me! Monday post if you haven't gotten a chance to already!

Not Me! Monday - #13

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog see what she has not been up to herself.

I did not get all excited when I saw that my son's name made MckMama's list of names that make her salivate. I didn't get so tickled pink that I even made a post about choosing a name and about MckMama's love of the name, which I haven't had a chance to finish up yet. I seriously don't put so much stock in what others think and therefore wouldn't give a {insert naughty phrase} what people think of the name Lucian. We love it and that is all that matters so I wouldn't need any kind of validating, especially by a fellow blogger whom somehow has more influence than you would ever really guess over all her followers (including me).

I didn't catch my 30 year old sister doing something that I couldn't resist teasing her about because I was in total disbelief. I didn't exclaim, "No way!" and proceed to ask if I could blog about it. She didn't get all embarrassed and yell, "No!". I didn't tell her that she can't give me such great material for my blog and then not let me use it. I didn't give her the final say about whether I could tell you all what I caught her NOT doing. Since I don't have a the go ahead yet from her, you'll just have wait to see if you'll ever know. Come on sis, give in and let me spill it! :)

Yesterday morning my husband was not kind enough to let me sleep in. I wasn't going to get to get much needed extra zzzs only to wake up at 6:00 to my husband informing me Warren our 15 month old, had thrown up all over the living room rug and on him. I then did not get to clean this said vomit up while my husband gave him a bath. While doing so I didn't wonder why it seems my husband is the unfortunate one to be vomited on and why I'm always the extra lucky one to clean it up. We have hardwood floors but it seems either rugs or beds are always getting the worst of it. I wasn't thankful for my once again stuffy nose in the morning and that Warren hadn't yet eaten breakfast.

Lucian did not crack me up this morning when he offered to pick my boogie and extended his hand like he was going to start the job. I don't think I really had a boogie but it was nice of him not to offer since I'm constantly removing his. Isn't he thoughtful?

He also didn't have me chuckling when he stole my nose, threatened very nicely to eat it and then place it right back where it is supposed to be. I did not recently start stealing his nose and wonder if he really fell for it or realized it was a fun little game. There is no doubt now that he is a smartie pants.

Not Me! Monday - #12

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog see what she has not been up to herself.

On Saturday I did not attempt to put a one piece outfit on Warren and become surprised that it didn’t seem to fit. Warren was not starting to complain and finally scream out as I tried to fit his arms through only to realize the I hadn’t fully pulled the zipper down. I would never forget this important step and if I did, I would certainly have figured it out faster than that.

I did not get the chance to go to the mall by myself for a change while the kiddos napped. This rarely happens so of course I’d use this time wisely to shop for pants for myself since I need them so desperately but dread going into a dressing room with children. I would not instead shop for the kids, my husband and father (whose birthday is coming up) and at the last minute realize I still didn’t have anything for myself. I wouldn’t then frantically try a couple of pants on only to walk out with some cropped pants and a top. I wouldn’t be the type of person who would rather shop for someone else than herself and yet complain each morning that I don’t have enough stuff that fits me right. Not Me!

I do not find it funny that Warren enjoys pouncing, sitting and tackling his older brother Lucian. I don’t find it totally hilarious, especially since Warren looks so happy doing it and usually has his tongue sticking out when he does it. We didn’t play “smash pillows” as the hubby made French Toast on Sunday and I didn’t snap some pictures of Warren jumping on top of Lucian under the pillows. I wouldn’t allow this type of horseplay of course and I definitely wouldn’t join in by saying “Get ‘em Warren!” as Lucian screamed for help and cried, “No, baby!”

Not Me! Monday - #11

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog see what she has not been up to herself.

Last Tuesday I did not make my first trip with either of my kids to the Emergency Room. I did not have to take poor little Warren because his hand got burned. He didn't burn it when my back was turned while running the boys a bath. Even though it was just for a couple of seconds while I saved a book which was likely to have ended up in the bath water. Lucian did not turn off the cold water when my back was turned and I didn't see Warren stick his hand under the faucet and see steam coming off the water when I turned back around. Warren then didn't scream out in so much pain that it broke my heart.

While both my husband and I have known our water was too hot for a while, our hot water heater needed a part replaced because it didn't matter how much we turned the water down it wouldn't get any cooler. We knew this was unsafe but of course we wouldn't wait until something like this happened to get it fixed. Never. I wouldn't feel horrible about it either. (It is fixed now.)

Warren does not have a dressing on his hand that needs to be changed twice a day because he has severe second degree burns. He did not end up forming three huge blisters on his index, middle and ring finger. These blisters weren't popped while I held him at the burn clinic the next day. He has been such a trooper and a fabulous patient. Save for the huge amount of pain he was in the night it happened he has been in very good spirits and doesn't even fuss when his bandages are changed or his hand is washed. I just may find that amazing. Overall I don't feel absolutely terrible this happened and each time I look at his hand I wish I had a way to change it. I love you Warren and I'm so sorry! (If you like the blanket in the above picture you can win it here.)

In order to keep Warren from taking his bandage off (which he his relatively good about leaving it alone) we haven't been using our socks to put over his bandage to keep the it from getting dirty and to give him one more layer to have to get through before reaching the dressing. We wouldn't do that so you must be seeing things in the picture above. (We have since switched to my smaller, nicer looking socks.)

Lucian didn't raise both his hands palms facing me and exclaim after a long bath, "Look, I've got sprinkles!" Both my hubby and I didn't get a good laugh at that one!

We also didn't get a good chuckle at Lucian when he just out of the blue fell off a dining room chair while we were eating on Saturday. He didn't respond with a little, "oops" and "I fell off the chair!" Both my hubby and I did manage resist the urge to burst out laughing. When my hubby asked if he was ok Lucian said yes then when he sat in his chair again he went, "meow" (No, he is not past his kitty stage. Read more about it here.)

Not Me! Monday - #10

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog see what she has not been up to since coming home from the hospital with Stellan.

This week I did not have my son Lucian in Gymboree with NO shoes on, just socks. Socks that were once white but after a long day at daycare looked extremely brown on bottom. This didn't happen because he only had his big clunky firefighter's rain boots to wear and somehow they fell off and ended up in his brother's stroller. Of course I wouldn't have forgotten that he only had socks on when my hubby and Warren went off to look at other stuff in the mall so I'd be left with a shoeless Lucian. Then I definitely didn't let Lucian get out of his stroller in order to sit in those cute little chairs and watch t.v. while I shopped. (Got some great stuff on clearance by the way!) I wouldn't then be a bit embarrassed by this and feel the need to make a comment to Lucian when I was checking out. Just to make sure the associate knew that I knew he should have shoes on. It didn't go something like, "Lucian we better go find Daddy who ran off with your shoes!" I wouldn't have done this of course because I would never let my boy walk around in a public place with only dirty white socks on. Never!

I didn't yet again find myself without a tissue at the park when I know my little guy Warren is a snot factory. And even though technically we have kleenex in the car I wasn't too lazy engrossed in what was going on that I didn't go back to get some when Warren was leaking a big gob of snot. I didn't just use my fingers and then wipe them on leaf either. If I had done this I would certainly have washed my hands with sanitizer ASAP but I didn't so it wasn't an issue...

I didn't get all freaked out by some ants that decided to come into our house. While my hubby was out getting something to take care of them I didn't get totally impatient and start spraying them with Windex and Clorox Any Surface spray. I wouldn't have frantically wiped them up and flush them down the toilet. And I certainly didn't get all paranoid that they were going to come back and spray our front door and steps (outstide) with our wasp killing spray that also can work for ants. I didn't have all this done by the time my hubby got home either. Little things like ants don't phase me. (I may be lying.)

Now that Not Me! Monday is officially back, feel free to check out my other Not Me! Monday posts while MckMama was on hiatus.

Not Me! Monday - #9

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog see for yourself that Stellan has been released from the hospital. Yeah!

I didn't find it hilarious when Lucian was getting dressed and pointed to his nipple, "Look, Mommy, mountains!" After simply agreeing with him that they look like mountains but explaining they were called nipples, he did not pause thoughtfully before saying, "Oh, pineapples!"

Tonight I didn't play the "game" with Lucian where he decides he is going to get out of bed and come into the living room announcing, "Let's cuddle mommy". We didn't repeat this process about 20 times (no kidding) and even with me doing my angry voice he didn't falter. So I didn't keep this going because I refused to cuddle and give into his request and reward this behavior. I didn't make the mistake of cracking a smile at one time when he looked at me and with a huge grin and said, "Let's cuddle!" even as I was making my angry face and trying to be firm. I would never encourage him like this. Never.

When I was expecting guests and running around like mad to finish cleaning up I didn't throw some cookie sheets random things down my laundry chute because they were about to walk through the door. I wouldn't do this because my house is always spotless and I never cut corners. Nope, not me!

When eating sloppy joes Lucian did not get confused by the a little dusting of flour on the bottom of the bun and exclaim, "Oh no Mommy!". When I explain it was ok, that was just flour he didn't lick it with his fingers and decide it was "tasty". He then didn't proclaim, "I ate the flowers, Mommy!"

So what did you not do last week?

Not Me! Monday - #8

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog and support her and her family during this difficult time.

Lucian did not get yet another bloody nose at daycare on Thursday and then again on Friday and again on Saturday. We do not have a routine down now where he holds his own tissue to his nose because he starts failing like a bird, flapping his wings to get you away, resulting in many little scratches on his face. He does not look like he got in a cat fight, which might be fitting since he still thinks he is a kitty. Meeeoow!

This past Friday I did not have a similar experience to this. Lucian did not wake up with a 102 fever and a bad cough. His daddy did not decide to stay home since it was his turn. On my way out the door I did not bend down to give Lucian a big hug only to end up with vomit all down the side of my jacket from a hard cough. Nope, that didn't happen to me again. I was not then thankful that his aim was for the arm and shoulder on the opposite side of my purse. I could be thankful for that.

Lucian upon realizing that his white blanket had dried blood on it, he did not point and ask what it was. I didn't explain that it was blood and needed to be washed. Lucian did not then suggest that I go get his blankie a Kleenex. (Oh, if it were only that easy!)

After waking up to Lucian having a coughing fit early Sunday morning (4:00 am) on our baby monitor, I did not wait a bit before getting up to check on him. I did not make the mistake of assuming that because he stopped coughing that everything was ok and did not actually open his door. I did not tell myself that if I go into his room and he doesn't really need me that he will get up. So I did not selfishly go back to bed and get up a couple hours later to find he had slept with VOMIT on all over his mattress and pillow. Oh I couldn't have done that because that is just too sad and gross. I can't even imagine my little guy sleeping next to a pillow of vomit. I can't fathom this so maybe I will pretend it didn't happen. If it did, I wouldn't be thankful that I have a horrible head cold and can't smell anything anyway. That would have made the cleanup that much easier, as long as I ignored the body aches, running nose, head pressure and cough that went along with it. (I am sooooo sorry Lucian!)

Warren did not decide he wanted to get in on the bodily fluid fun and right before getting into the bath Sunday morning (to clean Lucian up) he didn't pee all over our hardwood floors. He then did not decide to make things more interesting by pooping in the bathtub as well. If he did I suppose I'd have to just shake my head, chuckle and say, it figures! Perfect timing Warren!

I am thankful to Lucian for giving me so much great material this past week. So much that I've saved some for next week!

Not Me! Monday- #7

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama's blog and support her and her family during this difficult time.

Last week while picking my kids up from daycare, I did not observe another little boy playing in the toilet. Nope, I couldn’t have seen that and kind of laughed as the daycare provider frantically stopped him and cleaned him up. I then did not pause and wonder if my kids have ever played in the toilet? Hmm…

On Saturday I did not marvel at Warren’s massive poo that I found in his diaper after a long nap. I did not pause for a second in amazement as I looked at the two very different shades and realized he created this masterpiece as two different “sessions”. I then did not call my hubby in to take a look only to have Warren start peeing as soon as he arrived. This pee did not hit Warren in the chest and face. Of course not because I would never delay in getting poop off my kiddo’s little tush. Never. (sorry honey!)

On Easter my son Lucian did not have a blast pretending to be a kitty. He did not walk around going “meow”, wanting to picked up, cuddled and petted like a kitty. He did not decide to start cleaning me as I picked him up to put him on the couch with me. Of course he did not get a tasteful of my sweater as he gave tiny little licks like a kitty. And he definitely didn’t unknowingly lick my chest as he was in transition getting up on the couch. Never would that have happened and if it did, I certainly wouldn’t find myself laughing about it with my hubby and sister while Lucian was total oblivious. Not me!

On our way home from Easter dinner at my parent’s house, I did not happen to notice a bloody nose on my sleeping son. He did not wake up from this and start wiping his face so blood ended up everywhere. So then we didn’t have to stop off at the gas station and clean him up as best we could. When he was super drowsy and I carried him into the house he did not only say, “meow” a few times as I walked up the stairs and I cleaned up him before putting him in bed. I’m not wondering why he has decided to become a kitty but instead just enjoying his imagination and kitty cuddles.
