Lucian got the navy tee with the word whale in French. I love the color combination, especially on Lucian with his blonde hair and blue eyes.

MolliCoolz Shakers~ The Easiest Milkshake Ever! {Review & Giveaway}

MolliCoolz has a fun new take on the oh so yummy milkshake with their Shakers. Instead of actually having to use a blender you simply shake up the super cool pelletized ice cream beads, add milk, shake it like you mean it for 30 seconds and wallah! Instant gratification~ a super creamy and yummy milkshake without all the usual mess!I love products that are quick and easy and this definitely fits the bill for a simple yet special treat for my family. Lucian certainly enjoyed his cookies 'n cream shake! For a fun twist include add-ins like fresh fruit or cold coffee!
The only recommendation I will make is to be certain you don't let it thaw and then refreeze. We got ours sent directly to us with dry ice. Unfortunately the dry ice was gone when I opened the box. While the MolliCoolz were still cold and frozen, I think they melted just enough so that when they refroze to a super solid state in my freezer they lost some of the "magic" so to speak. We could still enjoy the delicious shake but it took longer than 30 seconds to break up the beads and we ended up needing a spoon. Under normal circumstances this shouldn't happen but I thought it was worth mentioning!

Wilton 2010 Yearbook {Review & Giveaway}

Wilton is a household name and known for its amazing baking products. I've mentioned numerous times on my blog that my mom is an fabulous cook and baker so it comes as no surprise that I am very familiar with the Wilton brand. My mom owns everything from the cupcake tower to their decorating kits to their baking sheets. And while she owns a lot of Wilton products, I owned nothing until I was contacted about their new Wilton 2010 Yearbook.
I was excited to check out the yearbook after I learned it was full of great decorating ideas, tips, instructions and Wilton products that allow you to create these amazing masterpieces. I certainly wasn't disappointed by the gorgeous pictures and vast selection of different and fun dessert creations. I instantly became both inspired and intimidated. I have never truly decorated much of anything before so many of the cakes were a little scary and I'm definitely a beginner. When I came across the candy molds I knew that would be a great way to start and I knew my family would go nuts over any candy I made.

Wilton was kind enough to send me some fun Disney Cars themed decorating items which I will post at a later date, after my son's birthday. They also sent me this race car pretzel mold, perfect for my son's Cars theme party. I headed off to buy candy melts, sticks and other supplies from my local craft store. I was astonished by all the different flavor options for candy melts, mold and gadgets from Wilton in which to create candy masterpieces. I decided to stick with simple and also bought a sea themed candy mold and these handy dandy squirt bottles which are made for more precision when adding melted candy to the mold, especially for multiple colors.
My first candy making session didn't go entirely smooth. The bottles weren't microwavable so I melted the candy melts in hot water. Because of this it was hard to get the candy hot enough and it would start to harden in the tube before I had a chance to use it for more than a minute. I made the mistake of thinking I should just squeeze a little harder.If you ever get that urge, stop immediately because I learned the hard way. I literally blasted the top off my squeeze bottle and ended up with candy all over my floor, shirt and in completely random places around my kitchen. (see below)
Once I ditched the bottles and melted the candy melts in the microwave and simply used a spoon to fill the molds, it went so much smoother and super fast. I highly recommend keeping it simple the first time and not trying to do too many fancy stuff with lots of colors until you get the hang of it. I was very surprised just how fast they hardened and how easy they were to remove. Next time I would include some milk chocolate as well instead of just the colored Wilton candy melts. I think they would have tasted extra good with both the vanilla and chocolate flavors. They were still super yummy and we loved them! I'm excited to make more and try out some other techniques!

Pillsbury Bake Off ~ You Be the Judge! {Review & Giveaway}

Growing up with my mom who is fantastic cook and truly a bake-a-holic, I am very familiar with Pillsbury cookbooks and the Bake-Off contest. Almost every month my mom would purchase the small monthly Pillsbury cookbook and she now has an entire cupboard full of them. Many of her favorite recipes have been found within their pages and every time I see a Pillsbury cookbook I think of my mom and her special cooking and feel nostalgic. Mom, I know you are reading this. Please enter the next Pillsbury Bake Off Contest and show your stuff!

Did you know that they have changed the voting process? The 44th Annual Pillsbury Bake Off contest entry period ended this past April but the judging is now underway. For the first time, you can take part in judging the recipes and help determine 10 of the final 100 recipes that will go head to head in the bake off in April. The winning recipe will be award a $1 million grand prize!

According to Pillsbury, the You Be the Judge! voting works like this: Judges will select 20 recipes to be placed online at www.bakeoff.com in pairs for a period of two weeks for each pair. Consumers can vote for their favorite recipe in each pair. The recipe from each pair that wins the most votes will earn a spot in the final competition, April 11-13, 2010, in Orlando, Florida.

Voting is limited to one vote per person per each pair of recipes. Voters must be registered members of www.pillsbury.com and 18 years of age or older as of May 1, 2009, to participate.

The first pair of recipes was posted on May 14, 2009 and a new pair of recipes will be posted every two weeks (namely, May 28, June 11, June 25, July 9, July 23, August 6, August 20, September 3 and September 17, 2009). I, being the cool aunt I am, decided to take the opportunity given to me to review this product, through her eyes. I think she thinks I'm the coolest aunt ever. Lilly received the BFF pack which was perfect since it allowed her to give one to her best friend immediately. That was apparently one of the funnest aspects~ to be able to give something she got as a gift also to her best friend and immediately use it. Lilly's grandpa (my dad) helped her set it up and I hear it was pretty simple and user friendly.

They love it and use it all the time. One of their favorite features was being able to upload pictures, create a slide show and alter the pictures. I hear they were having a blast drawing horns on each other's pictures and having the people in the pictures say silly things. They also love communicating with each other. It also works great that it is easily portable. Lilly can easily bring it with her home or use it at her grandparents.

My sister loves that she is safe from predators with its unique code feature. I tried to get them to cough up something they don't like about My Secret Circle but they couldn't think of a single thing and they've been using it for a few weeks.

Simply-Bags {Review & Giveaway}

Simply-Bags is an specialty online retailer with a vast, and I do mean vast selection of bags and totes. Their bags can personalized or monogrammed and work great for yourself or make a very special gift. You will find everything from photo bags to cosmetic bags to laptop bags and so much more.

When trying to pick a bag out to review, I was a little overwhelmed by such a wide variety and it was hard to narrow my choices to just one bag. In the end I finally decided on this fun pink and brown duffle, complete with my name in pink embroidered on the front. Not only did I love the color combination but I really thought the pink crocodile detailing was a lot of fun and I really needed another workout or weekender bag.

I didn't know what to expect in terms of quality since I had never heard of Simply-Bags. I was afraid that the duffle would have a cheap, flimsy feel like many duffles I have had in the past. I was pleasantly surprised when I felt my new bag for the first time. The material is thick and soft and in no way feels cheap. There are two side pockets on the outside, perfect for holding small items like keys or a cell phone. There are also two zippered pockets on the inside. I love that there are 5 metal feet on the bottom and that added personal touch of my name. I couldn't be more thrilled!
