Aloha Friday ~ #8

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

My question:
How do you feel about going to the dentist?

My answer:
I don't actually mind getting my teeth cleaned. I just love the clean and fresh feeling afterwards. I also really like my dentist. Despite this, I kind of dread going to the dentist. Why? Because I'm not a fan of my hygienist. She has a way of making comments that make me feel like a little kid for not flossing enough or still having my wisdom teeth (at the request of my dentist since I have enough room). And to put this in perspective, I've never had a cavity and have decent oral health. I do brush my teeth twice a day like most people. I don't know why I continue to see her. I guess now that I've gone there for over 6 years I just keep going back. Anyone else feel like they get scolded at the dentist?

I despise it! I clench my hands the entire time I'm in there.

I LOVE IT!!! I love getting my teeth scraped and running my tongue over the smoothness. I love the teeth brushing and check up after from the cute dentist. He is super sweet and easy on the eyes. My hygenist is an older southern woman and loves to talk about everything, and told me at my last visit, "You are the picture of oral perfection." Natch! Aloha and take care.

It's def. not my favorite thing! But I also know it's something we need to do! :)

I detest dental visits. While my children go every 6 months I am not so faithful.

I'm not a fan of dentists for many reasons. I had a few bad experiences as a kid. Now as an adult I think it's crazy they seem to work two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday from 9-11, then if they feel like it 2 - 3pm unless they never woke up from their nap or just don't feel like coming back.

I am grateful for the good dentists out there and their services. Just don't get me started on the other kind. :)

Yeah, I have. Like it's my fault I have bony ridges that protrude in the bottom of my mouth making dental x-rays a nightmare? Drives me nuts.

I don't typically mind the dentist but I haven't found one I like so I haven't been to one in a couple of years.

Although I adore the feeling of ultra-clean teeth, I hate the way the hygienist always lectures me - no matter how good I've been. I don't think I should be paying money to be scolded like a five-year-old.

The dentist is okay. My hygienist is super nice and the dentist is kinda cute :)

I honestly have no issues with the dentist. I never had my first cavity until I was almost 30 and cried about it. I think the fear of never having something until that age makes it so much worse.

I go because I don't want problems, but I'm not thrilled going.

Good question! Right now I don't have dental coverage and I would give ANYTHING to be able to go to the dentist! I have a tooth ache and no money! No, I don't like going but it sure beats the alternative when you need to! When I was in high school I could handle pain so well that I refused novocaine! Now just think about that scenario! Makes me shudder to remember!

It's the thing I dread the most! I think I would rather go through labor/delivery than go to the dentist!

I was curious about what people said about this because I can't believe anyone would say they liked going!
